la particularidad de este y otros casos, según especialistas se debe a la mala calidad del agua que beben y usan los habitantes de las diferentes comunidades afectadas por la contaminación que dejó la COMPAÑÍA PETROLERA TEXACO (hoy chevron)en las zonas de Sucumbios y Orellana.
pese a la remediación hecha por la texaco, la técnica fue obsoleta según explica el Sr. Luis Yanza, coordinador de la asamblea de afectados. Yanza dice que los desechos químicos enterrados en el subsuelo se filtran y contaminan principalmente a las cuencas hidrográficas, es por esta razón que la contaminación y los perjuicios aún siguen.
